Winter accessories

Friday, October 30, 2009 posted by Kieran 3:42 pm

It is that time of year when you need to start to wrap up warm as the winter weather draws in. I am planning on going to a bonfire night next week, and I certainly will want to be wrapped up head to toe in my warm woolly clothes. I Love wearing matching hats, scarfs and gloves and at winter time there are loads of places you can pick them up  reasonable prices. Whether it is stripes, spots, checks or just plain colours there are plenty of eye catching designs to brighten up the dark winter days.  Why not have a look online, or at your local high street for what is on offer and brighten up your winter wardrobe. :-)

Skinny versus Flare

Personally when skinny jeans first became popular I simply laughed and thought that any one larger than a size 8 would look ridiculus in a pair. I have always been a fan of flared jeans as worn with a pair of heels they really balance out my wide hips and make me look in proportion.
However, as skinny jeans have become more popular more of my friends started wearing them, and I hasten to add that not all of my friends are a size 8!
On asking my friends about skinny jeans, there were very differing opinions. Some of them would only dare wear them with heels, others only accompanied by long tops of Jumpers. Whichever way you wear them I would encourage you to give them a try, as they are very much in fashion and as my friends have proved can be worn by everyone!

Know what suits you.

Last night I went shopping with my sister as she was looking for a dress for a wedding reception she is going to in a few weeks time. We shopped until we dropped and unfortunately after spending just over two hours wandering around the ladies clothes section of most high street stores unfortunately she went home empty handed and disappointed. Personally, if I am looking for something special I will go online and compare what they have to offer and most importantly at what price!
What we did notice is that many of the party dresses which are currently available are in the style of bubble dresses, which was of no help to my sister as she felt this shape did not compliment her figure. In my opinion the bubble style dresses can be very flattering if you have big hips to hide, otherwise it can drown a very petite frame and make someone look bigger than they are. Choose carefully girls, know what suits your frame!

Boots!

Once again boots are a must have for your winter wardrobe. Whether it be ankle boots, thigh high or knee high, it is definitely the footwear to be wearing as the winter weather draws in. I have a variety of boots, which can be worn for various occasions. I always keep my eye out for a bargain when I am shopping, however when I buy boots I do not mind spending a little bit more money, as you usually get a better quality boot which will last longer. After all, with the British weather we usually have at this time of year it is likely that boots will be very well used. I love the boots which are available with fur lining as I imagine they keep your feet nice and snugly. I am already keeping my eye out for a new pair!

Accessories!

Weather it a bracelet, a necklace, some ear rings or a ring, picking the right accessories can really make or break an outfit. I have been online and there are some amazing deals and offers available leading up to Christmas. When I am on a night out with the girls I always try and colour code my accessories whether it’s my shoes, a hair band or a pair of tights bright statement colours are definitely the ones to choose at present! There are some incredible nail polishes, even neon ones which would be fun to wear. Whatever your budget there is no excuse not to treat yourself!

The party season

Monday, October 26, 2009 posted by Kieran 12:51 pm

The party season is almost upon us and I cannot wait to go shopping in preparation for all the festive activities I will be attending this year….not to mention the Christmas party!
I have noticed once again that sequins and glitter are very popular amongst the high street shops, with glittery shoes, tops, skirts and leggings available in most stores.
Personally I am very much a shoe fan. I adore shoes and love buying as many pairs as I can afford!
Wearing the right shoes can really make you stand out from the crowd and compliment the look you are trying to achieve. Do not be afraid to try something different, and get in to the spirit of the party season!

leather jackets

Sunday, October 18, 2009 posted by Kieran 3:47 pm

It was recently my birthday and I have to say the most exciting present I got was a new leather jacket. It is a short cropped jacket with some zip details and a collar. When I first put it on, I was amazed at how soft it was. I have been experimenting on what items of my wardrobe it will go with, and to be honest I have to say it goes with just about anything!  I have tried it with a T-shirt and skinny jeans, legging and a long jumper and a skirt and top. It is great for wearing at night time when I am going out as it is small enough to put on the back of my chair or hold. The weather is not quite cold enough for me to get my big winter coat out, so whilst autumn is still here this is the perfect alternative! I have seen such a variety on the high street, there are loads to choose from. Make sure you make this an item you have in your wardrobe.

But who can wear jeggings?

Friday, October 16, 2009 posted by Kieran 8:49 am

Following on from the post below I completely agree – although I haven’t purchased a pair myself yet, and still debating whether to or not, they do look really comfy and a bit of a change from a normal pair of jeans.  Dress them you can – long sparkly tshirt for the evening or just a long woolly cardigan for during the day.

But my problem is the people who wear them – just because they are in fashion and look good on girls/ladies with long skinny legs doesn’t mean they are going to look good on us all.   So girls as you pull a pair on in the shop changing room make sure you have an honest friend that you can ask the question ‘does my bum look big in this?!’

Get your Jeggings now!

I have recently invested in some jeggings! I wasnt too sure at first when I started seeing girls and celebrities in magazines wearing them, however I have been surprised by the quality and variety I have found on the high street.

My first pair of jeggings are denim coloured and I felt fab when I put them on! They are alot more stuctured than ordinary leggings and are alot more comfortable than jeans.  I love the versatile nature of then, you can dress them up or down depending on your plans.

I have since invested in a leopard print pair which is a little more daring than I would usually be, but I feel like a girl only lives once! Now I have some, I am constantly seeing other girls wearing them -so they certainly appear to be hot at the momment! with the winter weather moving ib they are also very practical for keeping your legs warm :-)
