Prada’s beach trends for Spring/Summer 2010

Monday, February 22, 2010 posted by Brooke 9:18 am

It might be a little early for some people to start thinking about the sunny (fingers crossed!) summer season, but for fashionistas; wardrobe planning for spring/summer 2010 is already well underway.

For style ideas and hints on high-fashion trends for the season, look no further than Miuccia Prada’s 2010 Resort collection.

The beach-themed catwalk show featured some chic, easy-to-wear dresses themed with the aqua, coral and sand colours of Miami Beach, and these were complimented and contrasted with bold , detailed prints.

Wear over short skirts or bikinis, but don’t be afraid to throw in a colourful varsity shirt or a flower-adorned pair of wedges or sandals.

New York Fashion Week shows its masculine side

At New York Fashion week recently, the strongest influence in most collections was menswear. The masculine style seems to be taking over fashion trends, with ‘boyfriend’ jeans, jackets and masculine tailoring. Here are a couple of the highlights:

• Victoria Beckham – It seems that Posh Spice has finally found her talent, as she showcased 26 dresses from her collection in an intimate preview. As well as the sleek tailoring, drapery and textured fabrics, there was also a strong 1940s detective and Hollywood femme fatale theme in the strong, masculine trench-style pieces.

• Diane von Furstenberg – This established designer unleashed her masculine side in her much-anticipated catwalk show. A key theme was men’s jackets paired with feminine flowery dresses to signify both strength and sex appeal.

Fred Perry: revolutionising the man bag

It seems that modern opinion is divided on the subject of the ‘man bag’. Although commonly associated with students, bags for working men are sometimes regarded with suspicion if they are not briefcases or in some cases, manly rucksacks. However, Fred Perry and a number of other top men’s brands are working very hard to change the image of the man bag; changing it from feminine or juvenile into the most fashionable and masculine accessory available.

All of Fred Perry’s bags are either satchels to be worn across the body, holdalls or barrel bags. The immaculate leather finish and designer branding make them a coveted fashion item, whilst the fuss-free design and large capacity enable them to be both functional and practical.

The impeccable, luxurious style of the latest Fred Perry satchels makes them perfect for use by any working professional, and no high-flying businessman would be without one.

Unlike women’s handbags, which are generally designed with style rather than functionality in mind, Fred Perry bags for men focus on practical use as well as appearance. They have a perfect number of compartments and zip pockets for carrying a wide range of items in an organised manner, making it easy and quick to find exactly what you need, when you need it.

Promotional codes mean you can now afford designer clothing

For most people- myself included- owning designer clothing is a bit of a dream. You may have one or two key designer pieces that you’re extremely proud of but you would have most likely had to work for months to be able to afford them.

However, just by being a thrifty and bargain-hunting shopper, you too can afford designer clothes, bags and shoes. You’d be a fool to buy something so expensive without first checking if there was a way for you to get it cheaper, which is where promotional codes come in. Instead of traipsing round the high street looking for the latest sales, you can now find deals and sales offers online, and get access to exclusive discounts.

What’s more, there are loads of websites you can go on where all the promotional codes for a wide range of online stores and designer brands are gathered in one place. This makes it quick and easy to find the right discount code and you may even spot some other bargains whilst you’re there!

It’s not just designer clothing either; you can get designer jewellery, bags, fragrances, shoes, accessories and much, much more. You wouldn’t be able to afford these top-brand, high quality items normally, but you can now by using promotional codes.

Burberry’s first 3D catwalk show at London Fashion Week

Just as James Cameron’s record-breaking film ‘Avatar’ and a number of recent Sky Sports football matches were all shown in 3D, fashion shows are also set to be jumping on the 3D bandwagon thanks to trend-setters Burberry. Ahead of the upcoming London Fashion Week starting on February 19th, Burberry has announced that its epic catwalk show will be broadcast in 3D.

After recent figures demonstrated that Burberry’s profits amounted to £380 million in the last three months of 2009, it seems like the luxury designer brand is celebrating with this latest extravagant idea. One thing’s for sure though – it’s set to be an amazing show.

Fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2010

As it’s very nearly time to start dreaming about warmer weather, you also need to start thinking about your spring/summer wardrobe. This time of year is the very best for embracing new fashion trends, as the warmer weather means you can wear anything and the colourful, playful spirit of summer fashion is particularly inspiring.

Here are just a few top trends for spring/summer 2010:

• Underwear as outerwear – risqué but extremely alluring and uber-chic
• Denim – not just jeans but on the top half for the double denim effect
• Tribal – strong, empowering looks in military and futuristic tribal styles are very much in this year
• Patterned pants – break the fashion rules about only wearing block colours on the bottom half; floral and patterned printed trousers and leggings are a must-have for trendsetters everywhere.
